Greetings and thanks for the Christmas and all other holiday greetings !!! I like your reflection of “not so successful” attempts of our endeavors !!! May we all try to fine tune our own recipes as well as to fine tune our love for each diverse flavor in religions and cultures !! Let Us be One in our attempt :-)
Thank you Michael for such a wonderful thought!!! I love mixing up recipes and flavors from different cultures, also because I’m a bit of a mix too, and I do think of it as bringing different cultures and people together. I can’t wait to see what you share in the new year!

We are looking forward to seeing what the upcoming year brings!

Thank you and Merry Christmas to you also! I don’t have time for many blogs, but yours is on my favorites bar and received through the RSS feed on my home page so I don’t miss anything. I look forward to another year of your fabulous posts/recipes. Bon appetit!
Merry Christmas from Dunedin, New Zealand. Yesterday we basked in 30 C (86F) which may not be as hot as you might have in Summer but it was hot enough for me & then some! Cold roast chicken, pork & ham, potato salad, fresh salads with asparagus, garden peas, etc followed by many, many, many strawberries & hokey pokey ice cream. Mmmm.
Thanks for your blog & have a fabulous holiday break whatever the weather.
Merry Christmas Elise, et all!
Another year has come and allmost gone. Lookin g forward to new posts and recipes! I tried the mushroom pie Elise and OMG! Deeeeeeeeeeelish. I could eat a barrell of them at a time but I’ll post more about the pie on it’s page. Before I go I’d like to ask Bronwyn, what is hokey pokey ice cream? Maybe you could post a recipe fdr us sometime. ; )

Marry Christmas all. And wish for all a many many happy New Year…..
Happy holidays from Italy, thank you for your work
Thank you for your good wishes and for sharing your recipes. I hope 2013 brings you every success and happiness. I, too, had to smile over the “not so successful” attempts at new recipes as I had a mega-disaster with a first batch of “Polvorones”. The second batch was OK, though, but I’m determined to succeed 100% the next time round :-)
Hope the New Year brings you lots of joy – as your blog brings to many of us.
Wanted you to know that I made the Raspberry-Walnut Tort for Christmas Eve dinner and…you were right….it was a definate hit! Even though I’ve been cooking for a long time, I always find your photos of steps in a recipe very helpful to make sure I’m doing things as you intended.
Best wishes for 2013 to you and your family,
Ruth

I love your website and I always check it first when looking for something new to make. Every recipe is always delicious.
All the best to you and your family in 2013.
Hi Karrie, Happy New Year to you too! That pattern is Valencia by Arabia of Finland. They’ve been out of production for a few years, but you can still find them on eBay. Hand painted, cobalt blue. I love them.
Every recipe has a story. I must say, Elise, sometimes I enjoy your story almost as much as your recipes! Just like “presentation” they reel me in. You are gift! Merry Christmas, Carolyn
Happy new year to you and yours! Thank you for filling my family’s table with delicious dinners over the past year.
Happy New Year Elise,
We enjoyed 2 of your recipes for Christmas dinner,
Roasted Butternut Squash, Radicchio, and Onion and the Strawberry walnut tart.
My family loved them both and asked me to be sure to keep it in our Christmas menu for next year.
Thanks for your great recipes and inspiration!

Dear Elise
This is a wonderful blog you’ve developed! The comments of all those who have responded to your wishes are a testimony to that! I’ve never been disappointed in a recipe I have used from your blog, but I share your perspective — throw your handsd up, say, ‘There’s always next time”, and be grateful for the people around the table with you! Really beautiful table setting!! Best wishes to you and all those you love.
Elise, thank you for your kind season’s greetings and the wonderful recipes you share throughout the year. I have tried many and they all turned out to be a huge success. Wish you and your family a peaceful and exciting new year. Greetings from France
Tita
Thank you so much for sharing not only your recipes, but your family experience. So much fun to find new ways to use everyday ingredients.
Dear Elise,
I have enjoyed your wonderful recipes throughout this past year. You know what else I have enjoyed and appreciated? I’ve been so impressed with the civility of all those who post comments on your site. It ‘s so refreshing to visit a site where people say NICE and constructive things! On that note, a very Happy New Year to one and all!
Hi Elise,
Merry Christmas to you and your family, too. Thank you so much for writing and sharing your family recipes. We always use your recipes for planning holidays menu and everybody is so happy with the tasty dishes. As parents of a 13-year-old daughter, we’re so proud and happy when she learned and cooked your Mom’s Turkey recipe for Thanksgiving dinner. It was her first experience and the turkey turned out to be perfect–very yummy and moist. Again, she prepared dinner using the same recipe last Christmas plus learning how to make gravy and other dishes. We also baked gingerbread and sugar cookies using your simple recipes. What a wonderful experience! Thank you for this useful blog and you’re the best teacher. Happy New Year from Budapest, Hungary.
A belated Merry Christmas with my thanks for the Provençal new potato recipe that was a favorite dish at dinner. Blessings!
I would like to wish you and your family a late ” Merry Christmas “. Thankyou so much for all the great recipes from your site . I have tried so many of them. You have such a loving family. It reminds me of my parents ,who are gone to heaven, when I read about your wonderful father and mother. God bless you and your family, and Happy new year too !
This is my go-to recipe site, Elise. You always have something interesting to share, even if the recipe is a familiar one; you include a new bit of information or hint for a technique, or when nothing says it like a picture, you include a series of photos.
The award for the best recipe of the year goes to the Chocolate Bourbon Bundt cake!
Continued success and all the best in the New Year to you and yours!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!! I love your website and love trying your recipes. Thank you much!! Looking forward to 2013! Take care Cheryl
Thanks for helping me to make Christmas day special for my hubby, kids and grand kids. I made your stuffed beef roulades and the walnut/ raspberry tart. They were a rousing hit with everyone.
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, and will have an equally wonderful New Year.
Thanks for all the great recipes you provide for us. Hope you had a great Christmas and have a safe, healthy, Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas, Elise! I want to thank you so much for all your wonderful recipes — especially the family recipes. Family recipes handed down all have memories and associations. Happy, funny, warm, loving memories we give to our children, friends and neighbors. When one gets old (I’m 69) many of my happiest memories are my mother’s cooking. She was one of the world’s worst cooks! No, I’m not kidding. But I still look back and laugh at how bad it was. (Except for her Russian recipes — her native cooking.) But because of her I learned to cook well. (If that makes sense.) From one special friend who was incredible and had learned from her mother-in-law. My second teacher was Julia Child. I can’t thank her enough. I guess my point is sharing our recipes is a gift of love. Pass it around! Happy New Year!
Happy Christmas and NY to you and your family :)
Thank you for keeping my days interesting with your recipes and wonderful food photography!
Anna
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to you and your family. I want to thank you for the wonderful recipes and ideas you give me everyday. My husband and I enjoy your thoughts regularly. Inez – Inland Empire, Ca
