Mixed Berry and Banana Fruit Salad

Get out your red, white, and blue with this simple fruit salad of strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, apple, and bananas, tossed with honey and lemon juice.

  • Prep time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 6-8

  • 2 cups hulled, roughly chopped strawberries
  • A handful of raspberries
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 apple, peeled, cored, roughly chopped
  • 2 bananas, peeled and thickly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey

Prep the berries before the bananas and apples, and add them to a large bowl. As soon as you add the bananas and apples, sprinkle lemon juice over them to keep them from getting brown. Add the zest and the honey and gently toss to combine.

Serve immediately. Or cover and chill for up to 2 hours before serving.

I can see myself eating this for breakfast and a big 4th of July dinner. Colorful and yummy!!

Thanks for the recipe! I love fruit all by itself, but the addition of the honey and the lemon zest was nice.

Thank you for this recipe! It was a perfect addition to your buttermilk fried chicken recipe, with mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans. My husband devoured the fruit, declaring it the best fruit salad he had ever had. He doesn’t say that lightly. The lemon and honey were a perfect addition to an already delicious fruit combo.

So glad he liked it! ~Elise

I love simple fruit salads and make them often using fresh fruit juice and honey for the dressing. Your salad looks refreshing and patriotic!

This is in fact what I made for our 4th of July picnic but I didn’t think to add the lemon and honey and wish I had because our bananas did indeed turn brown. But the kids (and adults) loved a little Red, White, and Blue dessert (which I’ve also done as Red, White and Blue Fruit Kabobs btw!). Thanks for the tip Elise!

Perfect colors for July 4th. I love fruits during this time of the year. Refreshing and light and great for my diet. This is definitely a must try!

This looks both yummy and festive. Everyone loves a patriotic banana. We shake up our 4th of July meals quite a lot. but every year, sure as shootin’, we watch the community fireworks while drinking Fresca through Red Vine straws. I’m not sure how this tradition got started but we couldn’t celebrate independence without it. Happy 4th!
