I toast the nuts in the oven while it is pre-heating, and give them a few minutes to cool before mixing them in. I toss all dry mix-ins with the flour before combining them with the wet ingredients. It helps prevent them from sinking.
I soak dried fruit with a tablespoonful or two of rum or brandy to plump them up. Others use orange juice. It brings that extra layer of flavor to the party.
I like to add Pizza!!!
V creative, I’ll have to try that!
I just made banana bread added granny Smith apple yummy looks great
Butterscotch chips are actually the best mix in to me.
I like to add shredded coconut, walnuts and chia seeds. Pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds also work well.

I just tried a little Goslings Black Seal Rum (Dark & Stormy Banana Bread, anyone??) Yum!!
What a great idea Ann! We should add some ginger to it too.
Thanks for your great tips! I love making my banana bread with different ingredients as one of my favorites includes zucchini and frozen blueberries or carrots and walnuts. The ideas are actually endless:)
If I don’t have chocolate chips, I usually add raisins, walnuts and pecans. I have also replaced raisins with dried cherries before. Thanks for all the ideas for Mix-Ins.
Very good ideas; I’ll have to try some spices and additions the next time I make bananabread.
