Annelies Zijderveld is the author of Steeped: Recipes Infused with Tea (published by Andrews McMeel, 2015), selected by the Los Angeles Times as one of their favorite cookbooks in 2015. She writes about food, culture, and the arts with work appearing in Epicurious, The Kitchn, the Spruce Eats, EaterSF, Better Homes and Gardens, PASTE, Edible East Bay, San Francisco Classical Voice, and Simply Recipes with photography appearing in the Los Angeles Times and other publications. She writes and teaches cooking classes at 18 Reasons in the Bay area and online. She served on the board of the International Association of Culinary Professionals from 2019 to 2021, and in 2017, IACP selected her as volunteer of the year.
She holds an MFA in poetry from New England College and a BA in Journalism from Southern Methodist University. Her poetry appears in Acentos Review, L.A. Taco, among other publications, with interviews in the Rumpus where she serves as an Assistant Interviews Editor.

Favorite soundtrack while cooking: "It depends on what I'm cooking. Ha! When it comes to baking cakes, I put on my headphones and crank Blue October, notably "I Hope You're Happy," which then proceeds to make me bop along in the cake decoration phase—no matter how late it is. I keep it on repeat and the rhythm keeps me going!"
