August’s Most Popular Recipes

What were the most well-loved recipes for the month of August? You know the ones: the recipes you were cooking, sharing, and talking about nonstop. Read on to see what made the cut!

This August was certainly different than any other August in my memory. Our family spent most of it in our backyard, enjoying the mild Seattle summer weather with our two rambunctious kiddos.

Thankfully there were many familiar things, too: tons of tomatoes and zucchini, homemade ice cream and popsicles, and pizza on the grill (we tried it for the first time; what took us so long?!)

Judging from our most popular recipes this past month, a lot of you were eating from your gardens and taking advantage of the great summer bounty that late August affords. Let’s see what you were cooking!

The best grilled pizza topped with halved tomatoes, black olives, cheese, zucchini ribbons and sliced potatoes. The pizza is set on a slate background and a piece on the right is pulled away from the rest.

Fire up the grill and get ready for this Greek-inspired vegetarian grilled pizza! The crisp crust is topped with briny olives, feta, zucchini ribbons, tomatoes, and fresh herbs. It’s everything that’s wonderful about summer in every slice.

Two homemade peach cobbler ice cream cones are set on either side of a cone with sliced peaches.

If you don't have an ice cream maker at home, you CAN still have fresh, homemade ice cream. Fresh peaches are the star of this recipe, and it only takes 20 minutes from start to finish to make. The hardest part is waiting for it to freeze!

Still have an abundance of tomatoes? Our team loves this simple vegetarian side dish:  stuffed tomatoes filled with mozzarella, parmesan, and fresh herbs. Our kids even eat these! Win/win.

Two tall glasses of Pimms cup cocktail with slices of cucumber, mint leaves and ice. Mint leaves and Pimms no 1 are behind the glasses.

A most refreshing warm-weather cocktail, the Pimm's Cup is made with Pimms No. 1, ginger beer (or sparkling lemonade), simple syrup, cucumbers, strawberries, and mint. A great stay-cation sip.

Summer peach and cucumber salad in a bowl with a serving spoon. A blue linen is to the right and peaches, limes and basil are to the left of the bowl.

Cool, crunchy cucumbers combined with sweet, juicy peaches are dressed in a peppery basil vinaigrette in this vibrant salad. Serve with your favorite grilled meat or fish, or enjoy as a light lunch all on its own.

My favorite was gazpacho! Made it twice in a matter of 3 weeks…actually served it again last night as an appetizer in martini glasses. My guests loved it…social distancing in our back yard for sure.
