Guess what?! Spring officially starts this week! (I’m a bit excited, in case you couldn’t tell.) There are so many things I love about this time of year — from new vegetables popping up at the farmer’s market to the slightly warmer temperatures and increased sunshine. There’s a sense of excitement in the air.
With the season also comes the age-old tradition of spring cleaning. I’ve already been Marie Kondo-ing my closet for a few weeks, but now is the time to tackle some of the deep-cleaning that I’ve ignored for months. It may seem daunting, but start with something small, get that accomplished, and then move on from there. I recently went through my spice cabinet to get rid of all the expired spices and it made my day.
Another reason I’m particularly excited is because it’s my birthday this week! I’ve gotten in a habit of baking my own birthday cakes, so I’ve included a chocolate cake recipe for you in case you want to celebrate with me in spirit.
