We exhaustively research and recommend a broad range of products and ultimately make a curated list of recommendations from writers with subject-matter expertise in every product category we cover.

After we publish an article, we don’t just forget about it. Our team is relentless when it comes to updating and keeping our existing recommendations fresh, accurate, and helpful.
We have our fingers on the pulse when it comes to the latest household releases, from food processors to nonstick skillets and more. Our recommended products run the gamut from budget to splurge-worthy, with an emphasis on durable, well-made products that will be worth your money. We’re not loyal to any one specific retailer or brand, making it a point to source recommendations from reliable companies that deliver exemplary customer service, so you can have a seamless shopping experience.

The product recommendations from Simply Recipes are purely editorial. Occasionally, brands and PR agencies will send us products for editorial consideration, but our thoughts and opinions are our own. Our team never promises coverage nor lets retailers, public relations firms, or salespeople dictate our content. Instead, we do the heavy lifting ourselves by tapping into our network of experts and testers to help you make smarter purchases—and to avoid that dreaded buyer’s remorse.
How We Test Our Products
We believe in using these products just like you would—at home, in the kitchen—in real-life settings that put them through their paces. We send products straight to the homes of our thorough testers. We are transparent about any samples received.
We have over a hundred reviewers spending weeks and months evaluating everything from blenders to cutting boards to find out if these products are worth the spend. We may send our testers three to five products in the same category so that they can make comparisons, which gives you real insights into how different brands and models measure up against each other. Our testers also take dozens of photos to help you see what the product will look like in your home or in your hands. They make sure to capture all the important angles and details to give you the most information before you buy.
In addition to writing about their personal experiences, each reviewer fills out a comprehensive questionnaire that collects over ten data points. The testers rate their products on a scale of 1 to 5 for each factor—like design or ease of cleaning—to come up with a rating that reflects their overall opinion.
We tailor these ratings to each category and never use a one-size-fits-all method. For instance, we rate grills on their assembly process and heat control but evaluate French presses based on their capacity and the quality of coffee they produce, among other factors.

Tory Brangham is Chief Commerce Officer at Dotdash and has led the team since May 2017.
Tory initially joined Dotdash as General Manager of The Spruce, overseeing the development and launch of the site, now one of the largest home and food sites on the Internet.
She received her B.A. from Colgate University with a degree in International Relations.
Julia joined Dotdash's commerce team in May 2018 and is now the Vice President of Commerce. She brings with her more than a decade of experience working in the digital publishing industry. Before working at Dotdash, Julia was a freelance commerce writer and the editorial producer at TravelandLeisure.com, where she managed the site’s sponsorship initiatives.
Julia's work has appeared online for What to Expect, Food & Wine, Martha Stewart’s Everyday Food, and This Old House.
Julia received her BS in food science from Cornell University and graduated from the culinary arts program at the International Culinary Center.
Taysha Murtaugh is Editorial Director for the Food Group on the commerce team. She joined Dotdash in February 2019. From her first gig at Meredith to her time at Hearst, Taysha has spent her career creating and editing food, lifestyle, and entertaining content.
Her work has been featured in many publications including Martha Stewart, Country Living, Diabetic Living (now LivingWell with Diabetes, a part of EatingWell), Better Homes and Gardens, and Woman's Day.
Taysha received her BS in Journalism at Iowa State University.
Siobhan Wallace is the Commerce Editor for Simply Recipes. She joined Dotdash in February 2021. Before Dotdash, she was the senior digital editor at Wine Enthusiast. Her work has appeared on Vinepair, Serious Eats, Men’s Journal, and Food & Wine. She has also written two cookbooks.
Siobhan has a B.A. in History from Hunter College and an M.A. in Food Studies from New York University.
Sara joined Dotdash in 2020. Before joining Dotdash, she was Director of Product for New York Times Parenting.
She holds an M.B.A., M.S., and a B.F.A.
She currently works as the Director of Product for the Commerce team at Dotdash and holds over a decade of experience in digital product development and marketing, with a focus on user-growth and engagement.
David started at Dotdash in 2019. Prior to working at Dotdash, David was a digital photo editor at Departures (American Express) and Travel + Leisure. He also held positions at Architectural Digest, Niche Media, and Thrillist.
He attended New York University.
David has more than a decade of experience working in the photo, design, and digital media industries.
Meg joined Dotdash’s commerce team in November 2020 and is the Senior Commerce Editor for news and deals.
Meg received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Villanova University and began her career working with products at SELF Magazine. Testing products has always been a passion of hers whether identifying the best paleo snacks to keep at your desk, or giving every meal kit a chance in the kitchen.
Her work has appeared in Gear Patrol, SELF, Glamour, Women’s Running, and The Field Mag.
Andrea has worked for Dotdash since 2018. Prior to joining Dotdash, Andrea worked as a beauty editor at Teen Vogue, The Zoe Report, and Rose Inc.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Penn State University. Andrea currently resides in Los Angeles.

Carrie is an editorial project manager at Dotdash. She joined the team in December 2020. Prior to joining Dotdash, she was a digital editor at Haymarket Media. In previous positions, she covered topics ranging from healthcare to home decor.
Carrie received her B.A. in English from Hanover College and her M.A. in Women’s and Gender Studies from The University of Texas at Austin.
Samantha joined the Commerce team at Dotdash in 2020 as a production assistant. Prior to Dotdash she was part of the editorial team at City Guide NY.
She has written for both digital and print publications, including J14 Magazine and Mommybites.com.
