Geo Banks-Weston is a food blogger, writer, podcaster, and recipe developer based in Philadelphia, PA.
Experience
Geo's platform started as an Instagram account where he chronicled his eating adventures throughout the city of Philadelphia beyond. In 2014, he started his food and lifestyle blog Geo’s Table with the goal of sharing recipes from the African diaspora, highlighting black-owned restaurants and business, and exploring the intersection of food and Black culture. In 2019, he launched his podcast Table 86, where he showcases underrepresented content creators, entrepreneurs, and culinary professionals that are transforming the food and beverage industry.
Geo’s work has been featured in Food52, The Washington Post, The Spruce Eats, Philadelphia Magazine, Simply Recipes, and in 2020 he was a guest on WHYY’s Check Please! Philly. He currently serves on the board of PA Eats, a non-profit organization dedicated to combating food insecurity across the state of Pennsylvania, as well as on the board of Eat the Culture, an organization creating a community-centered safe space for Black culinary creators and entrepreneurs.
Favorite soundtrack while cooking: "I love to listen to R&B/Soul music from the 1980's (Anita Baker, Patti LaBelle, Luther Vandross) while cooking. It brings nostalgic feelings of watching my grandma prepare meals for our family gatherings."
