Experience
Lauren David is a Chilean-American freelance writer, who has been immersed in the world of food for over 15 years.
Lauren's career in food began shortly after a 9-month backpacking adventure from East to South Africa, where she noticed the lack of South African grown top quality produce and the abundance of exported produce in grocery stores. This sparked her curiosity of who grows our food and the complex web of the global food system. Since then, she's worked as a farmers' market manager where she gained insight into the complexities of farmers markets and local food systems and as a K-12 garden and nutrition educator where she taught young kids and teenagers to connect with nature, to appreciate freshly grown fruits and vegetables, and to cook with seasonal ingredients. Additionally, she was a Cheese Intern at the The San Francisco Cheese School.
Her work is featured in Allrecipes, Budget Travel, Business Insider, Fatherly, Fodor’s, Greatist, HowStuffWorks, Huffpost Food, Hunker, MindBodyGreen, Oyster, The Healthy, The Kitchn, Reader’s Digest, SmarterTravel, Southern Living, The Spruce Eats, Verywell Fit, Simply Recipes, and more.
In her free time, she loves spending time by the ocean, planting diverse vegetable varieties, and getting to know a culture and new place through their gastronomy. You'll find her frequenting farmers markets, experimenting in the kitchen, and daydreaming about her next trip.
