Meiko is passionate about food that centers around culture. She developed her blog MeikoAndTheDish.com in 2016 to explore food traditions and celebrate her culinary heritage, and her recipes focus on classic comfort, Southern, and soul food cuisine.
Meiko is also the founder of Eat The Culture (black history month virtual potluck & juneteenth virtual cookout) community that focuses on amplifying black voices in food media.
Meiko was born in Kansas City, MO, raised in San Diego, CA, and spends most of her time creating magic in the kitchen beside her husband (Chef Kenneth Temple) in Dallas, TX.
Favorite kitchen tool: "I live by the philosophy, "the More Garlic the Merrier." I absolutely love garlic but hate mincing it. Once I found the garlic press it was love at first site. It is my best friend in the kitchen."
