My husband and teenage son both gave these burgers a thumps up. I would have liked to have given them a try, but I’ll have to wait until my diet is over. Thanks for the recipe!
Made this last night for husband and I – two for dinner, and two to maybe pack away for lunch the next day (with some rice pilaf and veggies – that was my plan). Nope, husband loved it so much he ate basically three of the four patties! The burgers are definitely tasty and easy to make.
Many thanks Elise for the awesome recipe. Hubby doesn’t usually like to eat pork, but this is something he declared must be on rotation. So thank you for helping me get him to appreciate some porky goodness! Looking forward to cooking this next week when we visit the in-laws (husband raved about it so now they’re curious to try it out)! :)
We made these last night using the following recipe for hoisin barbecue sauce:
They were amazing!
Delicious Hawaiian Pork Burger…yummy!!!!
Are those Wheat buns from Whole Foods / Rudi’s Bakery?
They look like great buns! I will have to grill these for my brother and his family when they visit! Yum Yum!
I think they are white, not whole wheat, and yes they are from Rudi’s. Their buns are great. ~Elise
Im alergic to onions. What can I sub for green onions?
Just leave them out, or add in a tablespoon of minced fresh parsley. ~Elise
I like that addition of green onions and ginger to the pork. You could substitute a little soy sauce for the salt and make it more Asian.
WoW! its really delicious. I just tried it. Yes some ingredients where not there. I will make again when i have all ingredients.

OMG this looked so good I picked up the stuff and made it for dinner. It was the best burger I have ever had! I added provolone cheese which made it even better. If you make this be sure to make at least two burgers per person because you won’t be able to stop at just one!
I can’t wait to try your version of the Hawaiian burger! We’ve done similar, but used canadian bacon instead of the ham (throw it on the grill for a few minutes too) and top the entire concoction with a little wasabi mayo.
We use Buttermilk buns available @ Ralph’s. They are awesome.
This looks awesome. Can I ask what kind of buns you use? I’m on the hunt for a really good, soft bun, one that won’t turn to mush with the burger juices?
We love Rudi’s hamburger buns that we get at Whole Foods. Rudi’s Bakery. ~Elise
Think I’ll substitute some Teriyaki for the BBQ sauce. Sounds delicious!
