I made this recipe to go with a maple bacon cake I made for my friend who loves Autumn. I made vanilla cake layers, maple buttercream frosting and then chopped up the candied bacon and sprinkled liberally in between each layer. I also added more bacon on top of the cake…bc can ya really Ever have too much bacon?! Not at my house. It was FABULOUS!! The perfect combo of salty and sweet!!! Plus it really went along well with the inspiration of a classic pancake breakfast with bacon, all smothered in maple syrup!!! Perfect!!!
The only thing I did differently was leave out the black pepper. I was worried it wouldn’t go well with cake. But otherwise, this is my new favorite!!xxxxxyyyyy

great flavor, but edges burned pretty badly at 18 min. would perhaps use a lower temp next time?

I’ve always used thick-cut applewood smoked bacon. We like it much better. It’s crispy on the edges and meaty and tender in the center. I also add 1 tsp of cinnamon to the brown sugar, flip bacon 1/2 way through cooking time then sprinke with a tiny bit more brown sugar and lightly drizzle with pure maple syrup. My husband especially loves it when I use it to wrap my pork loin or meatloaf.

I like the hot! Marinated in Ghost Pepper Sauce and Maple Syrup overnight first. The three friends brave enough to try it said I should market it lol.

This is so much easier than the 15 ingredient, baste every 5 minute recipes and tastes just as good! It takes my oven a good 25-30 minutes to get the bacon done. I’m pretty sure thick-cut would take an hour. I love to sprinkle with a little cayenne pepper before popping into the oven. SOOOO good.

Thankyou for this recipe! I’m having a peppa pig pinata for my sweet sixteen. I will be making these the day before the party and be putting them in ziploc bags and then putting them inside the pinata
I’ve taken it off the rack and put it on parchment asap. The longer it is on the rack the more likely it is to stick as the sugar cools. Delish!
Delicious! I go heavy on the pepper and crumble it up in scrambled eggs, best eggs ever.
GREAT recipe! Really easy to follow and make. I used regular sliced bacon and I also tried it with thick sliced bacon. Even the burn pieces were edible! <3 I also put brown sugar on both sides and pepper on only 1 side. EXCELLENT!!!

When it’s been hard to wait for it to cool, it can be popped it into the freezer for a few minutes to cool
Do you only put sugar on the one side – no need top turn and copat other side during cook?
xxxxxyyyyy
Correct, Rick, only one side.
