Welcome to The Friday Buzz, our roundup of all good things, good advice, good feelings. It’s the happy hour of blog posts! Up this week: HALLOWEEN MOVIES! EEK!

Do you have a favorite way to kick off the fall season? Our Senior Editor, Summer, was telling us all about her annual harvest party that she hosts, and I’m almost positive I need to find a way to be there next year. It sounds incredible!

She usually serves about 60 people each year. The yard is full of pumpkins, hay bales, all the food is cider/pumpkin based (that’s where the Slow Cooker Cider Pulled Pork recipe comes from). They have hot apple cider and a popcorn bar. She’s been doing it for about seven years and her whole family loves it.

I thought I was doing good to buy a bag of candy corn and to get a couple of pumpkins for my porch, but after hearing about this amazing event Summer puts on, I’m definitely inspired to *at least* buy an extra bag of candy this year and maybe go for some white pumpkins instead of orange… Totally #livingontheedge, aren’t I?

While there are tons of fun ways to celebrate this time of year, I have to say watching Halloween movies is one of my favorite things to do, so I thought I’d ask what movies our team enjoys. Grab some popcorn and read on!

  • Beetlejuice
  • Edward Scissorhands

Any other movies would you add to this list?

MEANWHILE ON INSTAGRAM

Everyone’s dishing on their favorite pasta sauce. Bolognese is a definite favorite among our readers! Good thing we have a fantastic Bolognese sauce that’s ready to go in under 35 minutes!

READER COMMENT OF THE WEEK

We’ve been wading through all your comments on this post about our site’s new look! Thank you to everyone who has left kind words!! We love reading all of them and they’re like a breath of fresh air!

Durainey is our newest pie-loving-convert after she made our Homemade Apple Pie. Here’s what she had to say:

I typically don’t care for apple pie that much. But my husband of 45 years loves them so I made this one for him. And it was so good that my daughter has asked for apple pie for Thanksgiving Dinner. I did tweak it though but don’t be offended I tweak all recipes. I used our fresh apples off the tree. We live in Alaska, have for 48 years and it amazes me still that we can grow apples here. As for me and my family, you have a winner with this pie.

A homemade pie made from apples grown in Alaska? SIGN ME UP!

Until then, if anyone needs me, I’ll be curled up on my couch ready for my Halloween movie marathon to begin. Cheers to the weekend!
